The food menu is equally impressive. Start your day with a hearty crispy baked potato or savor the Scottish seasonal soup of the day. Patrons rave about the generous portion sizes and the quality of ingredients. One guest, Mark Morrell, highlighted the café's clean and welcoming environment, complemented by friendly staff and tasty food, making it a perfect spot for a light breakfast.
- Stand-out Dish: You won't want to miss the famous haggis cheese melt baguette paired with peppercorn sauce, a fresh and tasty delight that has delighted many, including Agnieszka Flak.
- For Sweet Tooth Lovers: Ewen Chan's raves about the best chocolate orange cake in town, leaving cake lovers salivating at the mere mention.
- Great for Families: The café’s dog-friendly policy, mentioned by Reissu Mies, means your furry companions can join in the fun as you enjoy a meal together.
- Atmospheric Experience: Reviewers have praised the atmosphere that makes you feel at home, which was echoed by the first cut and enjoyed by Heather Bell, who repeated her delight on multiple visits.
Every visit seems to be enhanced by unfailingly friendly service, with staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Many customers leave with not just a full belly but fond memories of their time spent at The Smithy.
So, if you find yourself passing through Prestwick, make sure to stop by. Whether it’s for a quick coffee or a leisurely lunch, The Smithy promises an experience you won’t soon forget. Best chocolate orange cake, wished I had taken away the entire cake. Definitely hits the spot if you’re a chocolate orange lover!

Quite a unique wee cafe this. It’s obviously been lovingly refurbished and decorated by the owner. You can see the care and pride they take in the way it looks and it rubs off into the atmosphere, service and food. Was served by the owner and made to feel most at home whilst we had our coffee and cake. Menu is classic local cafe lunch and brunch with a smattering of some lovely baked goods. You might be tempted to just drive past but I suggest you don’t. You’ll not be disappointed!! Bonus points for step free access and great toilets.

Lovely welcome, they gave our dogs a free sausage. Breakfast was huge and delicious. Also had a wonderful choice of home made cakes, and massive scones.
